Alright, well what can I say about the West Edmonton Mall ... except that its big, and by big I mean Theme park and water slides with about 59 entrances to the mall big! Its about 4 blocks by 8 blocks huge, which doesn't sound big, but it is. It had a sealife cavern with different types of marine and non-marine animals in it. It was cool, the sea lions show was quite hilarious too. The cavern had like different types of fish (only Typhenn would know the names, lol), sea turtles, lizards, penguins, sharks and some tentacly-thing (you don't except me to remember all their names now do you?)
This same area had like a pirate boat standing in the water, and talking about water, did I mention the man-made beach and water slides area? Talk about compact, they have like 20 water slides packed in the size of a foot ball or so (my visual measurements aren't that great). There's also an ice rink, which isn't spectacular since we have The Atrium in Montreal, but this was a full size hockey rink, with regular hockey games happening! Today some teenage girls were practicing figure skating, yesterday I guess was a freestyle skate.
Don't worry, I tried to take as many pictures as I could, they are in the photo gallery section, and oh yeah ... the amusement areas are like incredible. There's various miniputs, arcades, couple dozen cinema theatres, a casino, a place for kids to go wild, and a theme park. In some places they literally increased the height of the roof to get the ride in (you can see the bump, lol) and the roller coaster is quite huge too ... not that I ride them, but from the ground you had to literally look straight up to see the top. From where I stood, I'm sure you can touch the roof of the place from its heighest point. Again, the compactness of the whole thing was amazing, things were overlapping and crisscrossing ... wow.
Ok enough of the mall ... oh wait, the casino! I walked by it, and the workers were on strike ... there was a picket line, and they put billboards that read "If you cross this picket line, you'll see yourself on CasinoScabs.ca" I decided to not be seen on their website, and since I don't gamble or anything no reason to go check out the Palace Casino either.
The city is easy to navigate, having all the street numbered makes it hard to get lost, lol. Had some good food today, Sahabah Restaurant on 107th Ave, its a somalian restaurant. Lots of food, and very filling. We couldn't finish it, so we doggy bagged like the third we couldn't finish and brought it home for lunch tomorrow.
Now the plan is to head down to Calgary on Saturday morning, and then our flight for Montreal that same night at around midnight. So scheduled arrival in Montreal for Sunday morning, with loads of recovery time before my shift on Monday evening.
